Development Blog 4: 'Ascension' Photoshop Secrets

The second part of this course was designed to teach how to add light and manipulate colour. Most of this revolved around adding in flare assets, switching them to screen, and then changing the colours using the curves to help blend everything together.

Adding a proper glow is a lengthy but easy process of duplicating the layer of what you want to glow, then duplicating and blurring over and over and over again, cutting the amount of blur down until it blends pretty seamlessly.

Masking out the astronaut was a difficult task as well, as the background they provided was deliberately similar, forcing me to mask out by hand.
